Enrollment

Enrollment Procedures:

If you have recently moved into our school zone, we are excited to enroll your middle schooler into our CMS family! The following links and documents will guide you through our enrollment process. If your family wishes to pursue attendance through a tuition application, please contact the School Board Office (434-432-2761) for information about that process.

Steps for Enrollment:

Step One:
Verify your address in the CMS attendance zone. Once you accept the disclaimer, enter your address in the county address table. Once your address is found, drop down the Schools Menu and select Middle School Zones. If Chatham Middle is highlighted, CONGRATULATIONS! You're a CAVALIER!

Step Two:
Gather documentation - Please bring the following to the school:

  1. Residency Documentation: In order to enroll a student, three proofs of residency are needed. (Acceptable documentation). Bring the original documents to Chatham Middle School for notarization by our office staff.

  2. Birth Certificate

  3. Immunization Record: Required immunizations for attendance. Enrollment cannot be completed until proof of these immunizations is provided.
Step Three:
Complete Registration Packet at School Once all documents have been reviewed and notarized in our main office, you will complete the registration packet. This is a set of documents that includes basic student information, home language survey, discipline disclosure, and a release of records. The release of records will be sent to the student's last attending school.

Step Four:
Principal / Guidance Meeting After official records are received at CMS, parents will be contacted to schedule a meeting with an administrator. In this meeting all records will be reviewed, rules/procedures of CMS will be discussed, and the student's schedule will be set.

The student will then be shown around the school by a guidance counselor and officially become a CAVALIER!
